Location
Darwin is the capital city of the Northern Territory, Australia. While most of the Northern Territory is sparsely populated this city has a population of about 105,991, which clearly makes it the most populated city in the Northern Territory. However it still is the least populous of all the capital cities in Australia.
Geography and climate
The city is located on the coast of the Timor Sea; most of the city is flat and low-lying. The city has a tropical climate and has distinct wet and dry seasons. During the wet season it experiences thunderstorms and monsoon rains. The temperatures range from 19.3 - 32.7 degrees Celsius and the rainfall ranges from 1.4 - 423.3 mm.

The city has many means of transport, first there's the city bus service, the railways and then there are ferries which leave from the city port headed to many other island locations. The ferry service is quite popular with the tourists. The city's international airport is host to a number of international flights as well.

The city's international airport, located 13 kilometers northeast of the city's CBD in the suburb of Marrara and caters to international passenger traffic as well as flights from within the country. It gets many flights from Singapore and Bali. Qantas operates domestic flights between Alice Springs, Gove, Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Many other airlines serve the city.
