Location
It is located near the Lake Erie that lies opposite to Fort Erie, Ontario in Canada, and at the beginning of the Niagara River, which flows northward over Niagara Falls and into Lake Ontario. It is the dominant city of both the Niagara Region and the Western New York region. The city is adjacent to the Golden Horseshoe that is an urban region in southern Ontario, Canada.
Geography and climate
The region has the sunniest and driest summers of any major city but still it has enough rain to keep vegetation green and lush. Its winters are cold and snowy with even small rainfalls. Its most well-known snow storm -the Great Lakes Blizzard of 1977 is still remembered for its magnanimity.

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) operates a number of bus services to the different neighborhoods of the city. It also has an above ground Metro link, which is well connected to the city and suburbs. Even Amtrak has stations in the city.
