Location
The city lies in the north central part of the state of Maryland on the Patapsco River and is just 40 miles from Washington DC. It has a rich flora reserve and various species of trees can be spotted throughout the city, including white oak, elm, maple, sycamore, southern live oak, bradford pear, poplar, southern magnolia, even several species of Hardy palms and crepe myrtle.

Based on the Köppen classification, it has a humid subtropical climate zone with relatively hot, humid summers and cool, moist winters.
