Location
The city is located in southwestern Ohio and is situated on the Ohio River at the Ohio-Kentucky border. It was the first major American 'boomtown' and is considered a purely American city, without the thick European influence. It is also well known for having one of the largest collections of nineteenth-century Italianate architecture in the U.S.

The city is located within a climatic transition zone. Its summers are generally warm and humid with cool evenings. The spring and summer are its wettest seasons though rainfall is fairly constant all year round. January and February are its coldest months with many days of heavy snowfall.
Transport
The city is well connected with the Metro city passenger bus system, operated by the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA). Even the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) operates bus links in the city, while the Greyhound Lines provide long-distance, inter-city bus service to the city. Also Amtrak has stations in the city, besides it also offers a ferry service.

Airports
The Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is its major airport serving the metropolitan area and is located across the river in Kentucky. The Lunken Airport, located on the east side of town on the Little Miami River is a municipal airfield used for smaller business jets and private planes. It also has another smaller airport, Cincinnati West Airport, located in Harrison, Ohio.
